THE CAT AND THE MICE | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE CAT AND THE MICE

A house was overrun with Mice. A Cat found his way into the house, and began to catch them. The Mice saw that matters were bad, and said:

"Mice, let us not come down from the ceiling! The Cat cannot get up there."

When the Mice stopped coming down, the Cat decided that he must catch them by a trick. He grasped the ceiling with one leg, hung down from it, and made believe that he was dead.

A Mouse looked out at him, but said:

"No, my friend! Even if you should turn into a bag, I would not go up to you."

THE STAG AND THE VINEYARD | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE STAG AND THE VINEYARD

A Stag hid himself from the hunters in a vineyard. When the hunters missed him, the Stag began to nibble at the grape-vine leaves.

The hunters noticed that the leaves were moving, and so they thought, "There must be an animal under those leaves," and fired their guns, and wounded the Stag.

The Stag said, dying:

"It serves me right for wanting to eat the leaves that saved me."

THE LION AND THE FOX | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE LION AND THE FOX

A Lion, growing old, was unable to catch the animals, and so intended to live by cunning. He went into a den, lay down there, and pretended that he was sick. The animals came to see him, and he ate up those that went into his den. The Fox guessed the trick. She stood at the entrance of the den, and said:

"Well, Lion, how are you feeling?"

The Lion answered:

"Poorly. Why don't you come in?"

The Fox replied:

"I do not come in because I see by the tracks that many have entered, but none have come out."

THE OLD MAN AND DEATH | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE OLD MAN AND DEATH

An Old Man cut some wood, which he carried away. He had to carry it far. He grew tired, so he put down his bundle, and said:

"Oh, if Death would only come!"

Death came, and said:

"Here I am, what do you want?"

The Old Man was frightened, and said:

"Lift up my bundle!"

THE HORSE AND HIS MASTERS | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE HORSE AND HIS MASTERS

A gardener had a Horse. She had much to do, but little to eat; so she began to pray to God to get another master. And so it happened. The gardener sold the Horse to a potter. The Horse was glad, but the potter had even more work for her to do. And again the Horse complained of her lot, and began to pray that she might get a better master. And this prayer, too, was fulfilled. The potter sold the Horse to a tanner. When the Horse saw the skins of horses in the tanner's yard, she began to cry:

"Woe to me, wretched one! It would be better if I could stay with my old masters. It is evident they have sold me now not for work, but for my skin's sake."

THE GNAT AND THE LION | RETOLD BY LEO TOLSTOY | MASTER READING - LISTENING WITH GRAMMAR ANALYSIS | AESOP STORIES | EFL RESOURCES

THE GNAT AND THE LION

A Gnat came to a Lion, and said:

"Do you think that you have more strength than I? You are mistaken! What does your strength consist in? Is it that you scratch with your claws, and gnaw with your teeth? That is the way the women quarrel with their husbands. I am stronger than you: if you wish let us fight!"

And the Gnat sounded his horn, and began to bite the Lion on his bare cheeks and his nose. The Lion struck his face with his paws and scratched it with his claws. He tore his face until the blood came, and gave up.

The Gnat trumpeted for joy, and flew away. Then he became entangled in a spider's web, and the spider began to suck him up. The Gnat said:

"I have vanquished the strong beast, the Lion, and now I perish from this nasty spider."

FACE CORE PSYCHO-PHILOSOPHICAL ISSUES | NARENDRA KUMAR

FACE CORE PSYCHO-PHILOSOPHICAL ISSUES

There are many psycho-philosophical issues common to those who really seek.

In the following, I am randomly listing out…

How can I (and we) die?

Just come into being. And going off after 60 to 80 years? What for?

It seems too wondrous and we are not able to accept it. This is usually called “angst” and it is common.

It is depressing, impossible to accept, that I will live for a while and I will be gone.

We are ridiculously, NOT able to accept “reality” and life around even, as “ultimate truth”. There must be something, and yet, there is really only this. And we know it. But we cannot face this fact.

This has been at root, the “exploring” of writers, and mainly philosophers of “what is meaning?”

(The spectrum)

“Atheism” seems impossible to accept due to “conditioning”

This was expressed by Will Durant in his “Story of philosophy” and he explains and ponders on basic questions of philosophy through the angle of all major philosophers who shaped our world.

But …really…

What IS conditioning?

It is only a belief, isn’t it? It feels true, and has a tinge of real belief, undeniable, even when absurd!

That is the problem!!

If you are told something from childhood, repeatedly, and if most people around you believe it, you tend to believe it too, and even feel the same.

The point is that you FEEL certain that it is true, though you KNOW it is not!!

Is it “faith” or “stubborn rationalism” Or “what”?

Yet, is silly, and simple too!!

It is doubt, and profound issue, and yet silly issue. Of course, reality is real!!

We feel this also, and we are able to live out this truth. But the conditioning too follows. And most people simply live it out, with his mix, “not bothering” much.

BUT “there is a whole, inclusive context”.

Let us call it, Philo-Psychology. A person is understandable fully, when you know “everything” about that person. His beliefs, his core nature that reflects that, and his real knowledge of the world, and his outlook.

What is it that one needs to know, to clear one’s confusions?

Implicitly…we do know that.

Reality is real.

A is A. Things have causes. There is logic etc

Senses do give us evidence and IS the base.

Knowledge is there, OF reality. Etc

In fact, we take reality, life and our natures, for granted.

It makes sense.

As there is no nothing. Everything is everything.

And science and the modern world has given us that clarity. Implicitly and basically.

But, yet “angst of “existentialism” is “natural” especially, when “reality bites”. We suffer due to deaths, or cheatings or break=ups, or even our own doubts and questionings and conditionings when our beliefs are challenged.

We are living in a certain world, and yet in an uncertain world, and in a context.

Sometimes we are so depressed, and finding no real motivation, maybe to correct these too, we simply let life be…

Sometimes even that can help!! As they say, your being kind of works for you!! Our bio-centricity.

Surely, we all have a “lower self”.

That “lower” self, cannot accept all these modern knowledge, and has gaps, and does not even understand how in the world, people can be so stupid, as to DENY reality and BE so stupid and have utterly stupid beliefs.

But, it is not strong, or based on knowing. And hence most people simply “adjust”.

But, there IS a context to it, a reason to all beliefs. And also, “error”, of these “philosophers” because, they too are human only.

ALL these are facts…thoughts, feelings…that arise in the mind…

Because we are the world.

We MUST KNOW IN WORDS…NOT denying them. Obviously.

Because we are “not able” to “solve” this issue to our satisfaction, we FEEL, atheism is impossible to solve.

“Taking it too seriously. And depressions. And denying life and reality”

NOT able to --think freely….

Due to “shaming”

Getting angry.

These become the syndromes.

We also need to have full self esteem TO get that. To question things and enjoy that.

Those with low self- esteem.

Are escaping by default.

We must…

Mainly take it seriously. TO solve all issues.

There is no need to tell anybody anything.

Especially, in the process. And anyway it is nobody’s business.

Simply no meaning in life, < if we are mortal> YOU CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT CORRECT. (IS THE CONDITIONED BELIEF)

REALLY, FACTS ARE FACTS.

RESISTANCE notwithstanding. Take it as challenge. Do NOT be afraid.

BE

First-handed.

Rational.

Don’t be afraid.

Take ”reality for granted.”

Don’t be scared and angry about REJECTION from close people of truth…

Each has A CONTEXT. Be mature. Not kiddish and angry.

One has a rIght to “contextual absolutism.”

Right NOT to have to “know everything” and “correct everything”

I know what I know, and what I need to know…even look further.

No “shame”.

Start from your context. Uniquely.

And ask –what is the problem?

Go from there. Don’t compare. Or have any complex, even “from greats”. Or “authority” figures.

Death depression. Meta-depression because of basic issues is not unnatural.

Taking this issue seriously, but not too much too..

THERE ARE some other issues.

Judgment issues.

Cut off from other people.

Lost trust.

TRUST PEOPLE TO BE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE.

I don’t know people.

Alienation.

Negativity.

Fanaticism.

Moral stings!!

“Hurt” by Moral Judgment

Self doubt.

Bring it OUT.

Sometimes how we are with others is coming back to us.

Check that too.

Happily give yourself all the space, time etc. Do it alone.

“Psycho–philosophy” issues.

WATCH WITHIN--

DENYING other people’s context, simply to deny.

Or out of fear.

Or wanting them to be different.

Denying what they are, not able to face it.

Not keeping their context.

Becoming alone because you know NEW things, and though true, it is new. Etc

Shaming and not “free to think”, out of rationalism, silly guilt etc etc

So, if I am mentally healthy, these premises and truths would be obvious.

But for these premises to be obvious I must be mentally healthy!!

Somewhere we need to break this jinx.

Conditionings are also feelings.

“Terror of being hypocritical”

It IS conditionings. Do NOT underestimate conditionings.

BUT FACE THEM. SOLVE THEM!!

BUT REAL TRUTH IS -

Life is short.

Really stupid all around.

JUST CONDITIONINGS.

LIFE BASICALLY, NATURALLY IS VERY BEAUTIFUL!!

YET UNSERIOUS.

JUST A JOURNEY!!

AND FINISH!!

So, it is simply a process…a fun thing!!

So, you must love to love to know..discover…
