Let us now come to simple past tense negative questions.

I didn’t go to the market.

For simple past tense we use the helping verb ‘did’.

I went to the market.

Simple Past Tense – Negative Statements



For Simple Past Tense we use the helping verb ‘did’ for making Negative Statements. Note that we do not use ‘v2’ with ‘did’ but only with ‘v1’.

I went to the market yesterday.

I did not go to the market yesterday.

He went to the market yesterday.

He did not go to the market yesterday.

They went to the market yesterday.

They did not go to the market yesterday.
