For simple present tense negative questions we bring ‘don’t’ or ‘doesn’t’ before the subject.

I don’t go to the market.

Don’t I go to the market?

He doesn’t go to the market.

Doesn’t he go to the market?

They don’t go to the market.

Don’t they go to the market?

Let us now come to the simple present tense how do we make questions?

I go to the market everyday.

Do I go the market everyday?

He goes to the market everyday.

Does he go to the market everyday?

They go to the market everyday.

Do they go to the market everyday?

So, we bring the ‘do’ or ‘does’ before the subject.

For ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’ we use for everything else we use ‘do’.

Simple Present Tense – Negative Sentences


In the same way for Simple Present Tense, we use the helping verb ‘do’ and ‘does’. ‘Do’ is use for ‘I’, ‘they’, ‘we’, ‘you’ and all plurals. ‘Does’ is use for ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’ and all third person singulars. Example -

I go to the market everyday.

I don’t go to the market everyday.

He goes to the market everyday.

He doesn’t go to the market everyday.

They go to the market everyday.

They don’t go to the market everyday.

Let us see the 4 most important tenses in positive statements. Simple present tense names actions which are regular. They come again and again like –

I drink milk daily

I go to temple every Friday

My uncle comes to India every year

I see a movie every Sunday.Etc.
